RUNNING NOSE

is avant-garde jazz - that's how the three musicians describe their music. The trio explores highs and lows without any bass at all, blurring the background of the musicians in Beijing, Yamoussoukro and Upper Lusatia in a breathtaking whirlpool of contemporary improvised music.

For guitarist Buchuan Zheng, the line-up of his trio was very clear. He felt a very special connection with saxophonist Tara Sarter and drummer Felix Neumann. Their joint approach creates challenging music that remains unpredictable.

The three musicians perceive Zheng's compositions as a playground for experimentation and, in their youthfulness, have an almost age-appropriate openness to create each concert anew and differently. The seemingly academic compositional structures are performed by the trio with a punk attitude. This interplay is fresh, relaxed and, as a band sound, strong and convincing.

Musicians hailing from Beijing,Strasbourg, and Jura have converged in Bern to form this idiosyncratic ensemble. Seamlessly blending genres from jazz to power rock and ballads, they naturally dissolve musical boundaries in their performances. Listening to their shredding, one can easily envision standing atop a castle surrounded by lemon trees.
